100 Meter Dash
The AAA Girls were flying this year. Martinsburg's Mykera Days missed out on the State Meet Record by just 0.01 with her stellar 12.10 time. She had to do it, too, because Washington's Devyn Hosby was right there as well with a 12.12. Days' 12.10 is the 2nd Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 2nd Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Hosby's 12.12 is the 3rd Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 3rd Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. St. Albans' Anacia Hines and Parkersburg South's Kasey Williams were also under 12.50.

200 Meter Dash
As in the 100, it was again Martinsburg's Mykera Days holding off Washington's Devyn Hosby for the win as both came in under 25 seconds. Days' 24.89 is the 3rd Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 3rd Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Hosby's 24.98 is the 8th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 8th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. St. Albans' Anacia Hines was also under 26 seconds.

400 Meter Dash
Washington's Devyn Hosby topped the field with a 57.43 clocking to take the event by nearly a second. Greenbrier East's Shaye Gadomski and Cabell Midland's Jakeya Perrin were under 59 seconds in taking 2nd and 3rd, respectively. The top 6 all came in under 60 seconds.

800 Meter Run
University's Amelia Paladino turned in the performance of the meet, crushing the State Meet Record by over 5 seconds. She turned the first lap in 63 and just continued to pull away from the field and dominate the race. Her 2:08.49 is the Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Hurricane's Tori Dent clocked a 2:15.41, which gives her the 6th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 5th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Capital's Peyton Panger came through with a 2:16.96 which gives her the 10th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. A strong 800 year saw Hurricane's Anna Gordon only get a 4th place with a 2:18.79. The top 6 were all under 2:22. The top 8 were under 2:23. The top 10 were under 2:24.

1600 Meter Run
University's Amelia Paladino took the lead pretty much from the beginning with only Hedgesville's Jessie Hogbin trying to go with her on the first lap with Paladino coming through in 1:08 and Hogbin in 1:09. Preston's Kaitlyn Workman was in 3rd at 1:12. Hurricane's Tori Dent, Capital's Peyton Panger, and Morgantown's Allison Lynch were holding 4th through 6th, respectively with each crossing in 1:13. After two laps, Paladino had stretched her lead to 7 seconds coming through at 2:23. Dent and Panger were battling for 2nd with each crossing at 2:30. Lynch was up to 4th at 2:33. Jefferson's Abby Colbert had moved into 5th at 2:33. Workman was in 6th at 2:35. After 3 laps, Paladino had moved her lead to double digits, crossing at 3:39. Dent and Panger continued to battle with both crossing at 3:51. Colbert was in 4th at 3:54 with that time matched by Lynch in 3:54. University's Sarah Wills had moved into 6th at 3:59. On the final lap, Paladino cruised home to the win and a new State Record in 4:51.74. That time gives her the All-Time Best State Meet Performance and the All-time Best Class AAA State Meet Performance. Panger pulled away from Dent to take 2nd in 5:03.09. This gives her the 9th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 8th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Dent crossed in 5:07.15 for 3rd. Lynch squeezed past Colbert for 4th with 5:08.04 and 5:08.75, respectively. Workman moved back up to 6th at 5:15.92.

3200 Meter Run
University's Amelia Paladino grabbed the lead early and never gave it back. She took the first lap in 1:11. Capital's Peyton Panger was in 2nd at 1:13. Preston's Kaitlyn Workman was in 3rd at 1:14. Morgantown's Sydney Pineault was in 4th at 1:15. Jefferson's Abby Colbert was just ahead of Morgantown's Victoria Cooke for 5th with both hitting 1:17 along with Hurricane's Abbie Short. On lap 2, Paladino started to take control, taking her lead to 4 seconds at 2:28. Panger was in control of 2nd at 2:32. Pineault, Colbert, and Workman were battling for 3rd in 2:37. Cooke and Short were fighting for 6th at 2:39. On lap 3, Paladino had moved her lead to 9 seconds at 3:47. Panger remained in 2nd at 3:56. Pineault and Colbert were racing for 3rd at 4:01, followed by Workman at 4:02. Cooke was in 6th at 4:04. At the half-way point, Paladino continued to stretch her lead, coming through in 5:06. Panger stayed in control of 2nd at 5:19. Colbert and Pineault continued to battle, crossing at 5:25, with Colbert having a slight lead. Workman remained in 5th at 5:29. Cooke was in 6th at 5:33. After five laps, Paladino was at 6:26. Panger remained in 2nd. Colbert was still in 3rd with Pineault still in 4th. Workman was in 5th at 7:03. Short was up to 6th at 7:08. On lap 6, Paladino was through at 7:47. Panger was in 2nd at 8:14. Colbert and Pineault had closed the gap with Colbert through at 8:16 and Pineault at 8:17. Workman was still in 5th at 8:34. Cooke was back into 6th at 8:45. On lap 7, Paladino stretched her lead to over 30 seconds, coming through in 9:08. Colbert had made the pass into 2nd at 9:40 with Panger right behind in 9:41. Pineault was in 4th at 9:47. Workman was in 5th at 10:09. Cooke was in 6th at 10:19. On the final lap, Paladino cruised home to a 10:25.29 and a new State Meet Record. That gives her the Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Colbert pulled away for 2nd in 10:56.75 which is the 6th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 5th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Panger held onto 3rd in 11:02.32, which is the 8th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Pineault remained in 4th at 11:04.09, which is the 10th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Workman held onto 5th at 11:41.79. Woodrow Wilson's Emily Fedders kicked her way up to 6th in 11:46.46. The top 10 made it in under 12:00.

100 Meter High Hurdles
We only ended up scoring 5 athletes in this event as one declined to compete in the Finals and two others, including the pre-meet favorite, joined the False Start group for this meet. John Marshall's Torie Derrow was the pre-meet favorite who was gunned down, but it may not have mattered because St. Albans' Anacia Hines blew through the event and crushed the State Meet Record with a 14.44. That time stands as the Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Hurricane's Audrey Barber sped to a 14.97 for 2nd place and the Tied for 10th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Cabell Midland's Makenzi Niebergall ran a strong 15.11 for 3rd. Derrow clocked a 14.60 in the trials to give her the Tied for 2nd Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the Tied for 2nd Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance.

300 Meter Low Hurdles
Winfield's Josee Erlandson just edged Parkersburg's Sarah Bever for the win, 46.10 to 46.12. No one else was under 47.50. Wheeling Park's Cristin Dolan was the only other one under 48 seconds. The top 6 were all under 49 seconds. Again, one of my predicted placers was among the False State victims.

4x100 Meter Relay
Martinsburg's unit of Kiki Frye, Alece Peters, Aisha Williams, and Mykera Days sped past the field in 49.61 to win by over 0.8 seconds. They were the only team to go under 50 seconds. The next 5 places were decided by less than 0.5 seconds as all six placers came in under 51 seconds with Winfield and Wheeling Park being at the front of that group.

4x200 Meter Relay
Martinsburg's group of Alece Peters, Kiki Frye, Aisa Williams, and Mykera Days used a strong anchor by Days to take the win as she made it past Jefferson down the stretch. Martinsburg's 1:45.59 was the only clocking under 1:46. Jefferson and Spring Mills were the only other teams under 1:47 in this Eastern Panhandle dominated event.

4x400 Meter Relay
Washington's squad of Destiny Harrison, Christina Rogombe, Rhonda Rogombe, and Devyn Hosby scored a 4:03.69 for the 5th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 4th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. They used a 58.8 leg from Rhone Rogombe to move from 5th to 2nd and then got a 58.0 leg from Devyn Hosby to close out the win. Winfield led through 3 legs, but couldn't hold off Washington's power duo. They easily held onto 2nd with a 4:06.17. Cabell Midland edged ahead of Spring Mills and Greenbrier East for 3rd as all three finished within 0.25 seconds. Greenbrier East received a 57.6 anchor leg from Shaye Gadomski to nearly steal 3rd. Wheeling Park snagged the 6th position from the first heat.

4x800 Meter Relay
Hurricane took the early lead on a strong 2:18 leg from Tori Dent. Morgantown got a 2:19 from Allison Lynch and was running 2nd. Winfield was in 3rd at 2:21. University was in 4th at 2:23. Hampshire was running 5th at 2:25. George Washington was in 6th at 2:27. Hurricane remained in the lead after two legs at 4:46. Winfield moved up to 2nd at 4:47, with Morgantown right there as well at 4:48. Those three had distanced themselves from the field. Hampshire was in 4th at 4:58. University was in 5th at 5:01. Parkersburg had moved into 6th at 5:02. On the third leg, Morgantown took the lead, coming through in 7:16. Hurricane was close behind in 7:17. Winfield was next through at 7:21. Hampshire remained in 4th at 7:32. University was still in 5th at 7:36. Parkersburg was still 6th at 7:42. On the final leg, Hurricane's Anna Gordon made the pass to give Hurricane the win at 9:40.62. Morgantown held 2nd in 9:42.14. Winfield made up some ground to finish 3rd in 9:43.45. University got a 2:15 anchor leg from Amelia Paladino to move up to 4th in 9:52.19. No one else was under 10:00. Hampshire held off Parkersburg for 5th.

Shuttle Hurdle Relay
Hurricane scored the win with a 1:04.90 clocking for Abby Watson, Audrey Barber, Chloe Papa, and Lauren London. Wheeling Park, Huntington, and Greenbrier East all came in under 1:06 in a solid Shuttle year.

High Jump
Washington's Rhonda Rogombe cleared 5'6 to take the event. That combined with her previous State Meet Performances gives her the 9th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. John Marshall's Torie Derrow, Winfield's Hannah Cartwright, Ripley's Laurel Miller, and Winfield's Carly Hinkle all cleared 5'4 in taking the next four spots.

Pole Vault
Morgantown's Rebekah Lafata was the only vaulter able to clear 10'6. Winfield's Allie Perry and Washington's Sara Pifer cleared 10'0 for 2nd and 3rd, respectively. One of my predicted placers did not clear a height.

Long Jump
Greenbrier East's Maddie McClintic hit the 17'0 mark and was the only jumper to make that distance in taking the win. 2nd through 5th was separated by just 2" with all over 16'0 with Hurricane's Audrey Barber, Hurricane's Lauren London, John Marshall's Torie Derrow, and Morgantown's Rebekah Lafata taking those spots.

Shot Put
Hurricane's Abby Watson set a State Meet Record with her 42'9 toss. That stands as the 2nd Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. She was joined over 40' by Buckhannon-Upshur's Mackenzie Leigh who scored a throw of 41'3 1/4 which is Tied for the 5th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and Tied for the 3rd Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Wheeling Park's Lauren Dickerson topped 39' in taking 3rd, and Huntington's Ericka Budd topped 38' in 4th.

Discus
Buckhannon-Upshur's Mackenzie Leigh sailed the Discus 135'8 to win by over 11'. The mark gives her the 3nd Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 2nd Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Hurricane's Abby Watson, Point Pleasant's Aislyn Hayman, and Parkersburg's Whitney McAtee each threw over 123' in taking the 2nd through 4th spots. The top 7 were all over 115'0.
